The Vedas

The Vedas are the Divine scriptures of ancient India and in modern times can be traced as least as far back as 12,OOO B.C. a lthough it is generally accepted tat the Vedas appear at different times of the cosmic creation forte benefit of human society. They are considered to be the revelations of the Divine nature, and its relationship within and without us. "Mantra" is the term used to mean Divine sound vibration or the word of God. There are teachings of mantras (hymns), teachings of ritual, theology, and philosophy at the root of all the vedic sciences. The point of all is the knowledge of the soul called "atma vidya", being our real "self" and separate and distinct from the material body , and the material world which surrounds us.

The "Rig Veda" is the oldest and is the source of mantra, as well as the earliest mentions of astronomy , astrology , and ayurveda. The other vedas evolved from the Rig Veda. The "Sama Veda" takes the hymns of the Rig Veda and places them in arrange ments of notes and music. It allows us to understand the essence or meaning of the Rig Veda. The "Yajur Veda "brings into play the ritual. It is for the purification and elevation of consciousness teaching rituals meant to uncover the "higher self" thus rising above the dictates of false ego and mundane mind. The "Atharva Veda" is the youngest of the Vedas and has the hymns and essence of the other vedas, but includes much more practical science for the elevation of humans who are not all able to grasp the essence of divinity on the highest levels. It allows much insight into the astronomical and medical sciences, as well as yoga and spiritual meditation on levels which can be practised by all people

Then came the "Upanishads", which give the inner meaning or essence of the spiritual import of Veda. They teach through stories, but very directly, the sciences of yoga, meditation, transmigration of the soul (reincarnation), and the culmination of self-realisation which is the understanding of the oneness with God, as well as the individuality of the spirit soul. There are also the"ranas" which through their stories teach ancient history, cosmology, and how people may live properly according to moral codes of conduct to attain material and spiritual prosperity. All these scriptures were meant to allow humans to advance toward spiritual self-realisation while performing their necessary duties according to tie, circumstance, and station of life.

Yoga means the link with God, which is the ultimate divine knowledge. All systems of yoga are meant to bring one to the ultimate goal of self-realisation and detachment from the objects of the material senses which bind us to repeated birth and death within the material stratosphere. The goal is to find the way out of this cycle, curtailing constant transmigration of our souls through a possible 8,400,000 species of life.

As the mystic yoga process of subduing the senses through physical postures (asanas) and meditation culminating in raising the "kundalini" (life force) through the 7 chakras toward the "antimaterial world" takes virtually thousands of years to perfect, it is not practice al for attaining the ultimate goal of life in this age. Therefore, although we teach hatha and ashtanga yoga for bringing the body and senses under control and improving mental and physical health on all levels, we follow the path of "Bhakti-Yoga", the yoga of love and devotion to the Supreme. This yoga is recommended for everyone in the present age, and through the chanting of the names of God the success of true self-realisation can be realistically attained, even in our short lifetimes.

Preface of Garuda Puran

Preface

Garud is a name of a bird. I have seen this bird in India only. Ancestors in India wrote Vedas. There are four Vedas. Vedas consists of scientific development of ancient times. Every one can not read Vedas. Some Sages developed Puran from Vedas. Puranas explains not only scientific development, but also explains this development in the form of stories. These stories are easier to understand. These are known as or Purans. One, out of so many Purans, is known as Garuda Puran. It contains experiences of Atman after death. Atman is known in English language soul. Soul does not carry information to the next life or universe. Atman carries information of the past actions in a chip ( Program written on Carbon molecule), known as Chitra Gupt. This chip can be transported by air. It is engraved with Bio Atman till 11th day or 13th day . This Bio Atma ( Atma with Bio Chip) is invisible with naked eyes. I shall like to explain Garuda Puran in English for the others , who can not read Hindi or Sanskrit. It may contain some pages from Garud Puran and may also contain my analysis on the basis of scientific facts available. It is not a experience after death or life after death. It is experience of Bio Atman after leaving one body and before entering other body. I shall not explain details of hell or heaven. I shall like to inform importance of raw material and detail of production procedure of human body.

Scientific Analysis

He, who takes birth, shall have to die. He, Who dies, shall have to take birth. This is law of Nature. Hindus know this theory and read this theory of life from Vedas from childhood onwards. Mahabharta, Ramayana , Srimad Bhagwat Geeta are examples of this literature. It is a more a scientific book of facts then a book of religious preachings. One can not compare scientific book with religious book or fiction book. The end of life is due to death. This is ultimate truth of life. Due to this reason different theories or practices are advocated to delay death. For examples medicines, Yoga, control on desires , hard work, exercise, donation of Cow, Gold, Silver, etc. In some books it is also written that love of parents, brothers, husband or wife etc may delay death but one can not avoid death. Bio-Atman is so minute or nano that it can not be seen by naked eyes. It is said that it's size is thumb size. It's thickness can not be seen with naked eyes. It contains Atman and Chitra Gupt ( Nano Bio Chip). Information can be stored on Carbon Molecule or Air Molecule or Hydrogen molecule. This Nano bio Chip may be peptide or amino acids or carbon atom. Bio carbon atom is so designed that it can store what is seen by eyes, what is heard by ears , what is spoken by tongue and what is thought by mind. These details are informed by this chip to God of death. This Bio chip is known as Chitra Gupt.

This chip carries information of all action taken by human beings. This is attached with Atmic Amino Acids. Information is stored in carbon molecule of amino acids. This Bio Atman along with Bio-Chip is taken to Nano-Bio-Chip-Master. This Chip Master is known as God of Death or Yama Raj. Chip Master decides about this chip and allows this chip to sell or destroy. On the basis of one's past actions one purchases or gets this Bio Chip as per one's destiny written by Brahma. Brahma imbibes this chip to the new life ready to take birth as per destiny of individuals as per one's past actions. Desire to create new life is produced by certain amino acids as per cycle of life. These amino acids develop with the gravitational forces of stars and planets in the universe. It is written in Garud Puran that this quality to carry information from one birth to the other birth, is of human beings only. Birds, reptiles, Plants etc do not have Bio Chip. (It needs verification by Bio Technologists or Bio Engineers). After this chip is removed then this Bio Atman is known as Atman. On the basis of it's past actions this Atman enjoys or suffers, once this Bio Chip is taken out from this Bio Atman. After suffering or enjoying this Atman takes birth again or get Moksha i.e become free of amino acid as carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen and bonds are broken.

Bio Chip carries information from one life or body to the other life and body. We all know that one can not carry gold, silver, food or clothes or cars or money to the next birth. We can carry to the next life after death any information stored on bio chip. This information can be stored by power of repetition or Mantras on Bio Chip or Chitra Gupt. This is what explained in Garuda Puran by sages. Scientific explanation may be not understood by others. So help of heaven or hell is taken. It is advocated to worship and do good actions. Sins are those acts which disturb the peace of society. Gayatri Mantra is considered to be the best in Mantras. One can also remember Mritrunjay Mantra or any other mantra as per Vedas. One can carry power of Mantra to the next life and help others.

Some persons believe that Garuda Puran should not be kept at home. One should read or listen to perform last rites as per Hindu Shashtra after death and throw this book to Ganges, a holy river of Hindus. But it is not correct. On the contrary one should read and understand Garuda Puran. Any one who reads and teaches others about Garuda Puran gets freedom of taking birth and rebirth or death and achieves salvation or Moksha.

Aghori Sadhus

Aghori Sadhus

What kind of feelings does the word cannibalism arouses? Well most of us would get disgusted, but there are people who follow cannibalism in India even now.

India land of oldest society, oldest civilization, but all this time in the Indian history there was a sect dedicated to Shiva was involved in cannibalism and other very crude animal behavior. The aghori oraghouri sect has its origin in ancient Vedic system, even though these people don’t follow the main stream Vedic system but the root is the same. The word aghori in Sanskrit means non terrifying, ‘a’-‘ghori’ most of the Hindi speaking people would have heard the phrase ghor kaliyug, ghor paap, etc.. it is the same ghor, theoretically these people don’t attach themselves to anything mortal. They do things which a common man finds to be terrifying, so they overcome this terror by going through it, since they do it regularly it is a common thing for them.

In Hinduism, “there is no evil, everything is emanated from‘Brahman’, so how could anything in this universe be impure”? this is the kind of philosophy the aghori babas follow. According to them anything in this universe is the manifestation of god itself, so everything is as pure as god and is god like, so abandoning anything is like abandoning god itself.

The aghori mainly worship lord Shiva, according to the sect every human is a ‘shava’(dead body) with emotions and they should try to become ‘Shiva’ by denying the human pleasures and involving in the aghori rituals.

The root of aghoris are as old as Hinduism itself, but the sect in its present form has its origin in Kinaram, he was an aghori ascetic and lived for about 150yrs. He was believed to be the incarnation of lord Shiva. He attained many siddhis through tapas and rituals and then helped the people with his siddhis. There is a temple in Varanasi for this baba and is the most sacred for the aghoris. Some also trace the root to Dattatreya.

The aghori is a human symbol of lord Shiva himself. The aghori lives in cemetery (shmashana), the living place for lord Shiva, this is the representation that the final abode for everyone is the cemetery. And many of the aghoris roam around naked, representing the true humans and their detachment from this world of mortals who live in the world of illusion. By this they transcend beyond human feelings of love, hatred, jealousy, pride etc..

Om : Symbol of the Absolute

\: Symbol of the Absolute

"The goal which all the Vedas declare, which all austerities aim at, and which men desire when they lead the life of continence … is Om. This syllable Om is indeed Brahman. Whosoever knows this syllable obtains all that he desires. This is the best support; this is the highest support. Whosoever knows this support is adored in the world of Brahma."
~ Katha Upanishad I

Om or Aum is of paramount importance in Hinduism. This symbol (as seen in the image on the right) is a sacred syllable representing Brahman, the impersonal Absolute of Hinduism — omnipotent, omnipresent, and the source of all manifest existence. Brahman, in itself, is incomprehensible; so a symbol becomes mandatory to help us realize the Unknowable. Om, therefore, represents both the unmanifest (nirguna) and manifest (saguna) aspects of God. That is why it is called pranava, to mean that it pervades life and runs through our prana or breath.

Om in Daily Life

Although Om symbolizes the most profound concepts of Hindu belief, it is in use daily. The Hindus begin their day or any work or a journey by uttering Om. The sacred symbol is often found at the head of letters, at the beginning of examination papers and so on. Many Hindus, as an expression of spiritual perfection, wear the sign of Om as a pendant. This symbol is enshrined in every Hindu temple premise or in some form or another on family shrines.

It is interesting to note that a newly born child is ushered into the world with this holy sign. After birth, the child is ritually cleansed and the sacred syllable Om is written on its tongue with honey. Thus right at the time of birth the syllable Om is initiated into the life of a Hindu and ever remains with him as the symbol of piety. Om is also a popular symbol used in contemporary body art and tattoos.

The Eternal Syllable

According to the Mandukya Upanishad, "Om is the one eternal syllable of which all that exists is but the development. The past, the present, and the future are all included in this one sound, and all that exists beyond the three forms of time is also implied in it".

The Music of Om

Om is not a word but rather an intonation, which, like music, transcends the barriers of age, race, culture and even species. It is made up of three Sanskrit letters, aa, au and ma which, when combined together, make the sound Aum or Om. It is believed to be the basic sound of the world and to contain all other sounds. It is a mantra or prayer in itself. If repeated with the correct intonation, it can resonate throughout the body so that the sound penetrates to the centre of one's being, the atman or soul.

There is harmony, peace and bliss in this simple but deeply philosophical sound. By vibrating the sacred syllable Om, the supreme combination of letters, if one thinks of the Ultimate Personality of Godhead and quits his body, he will certainly reach the highest state of "stateless" eternity, states the Bhagavad Gita.

The Vision of Om

Om provides a dualistic viewpoint. On one hand, it projects the mind beyond the immediate to what is abstract and inexpressible. On the other hand, it makes the absolute more tangible and comprehensive. It encompasses all potentialities and possibilities; it is everything that was, is, or can yet be. It is omnipotent and likewise remains undefined.

The Power of Om

During meditation, when we chant Om, we create within ourselves a vibration that attunes sympathy with the cosmic vibration and we start thinking universally. The momentary silence between each chant becomes palpable. Mind moves between the opposites of sound and silence until, at last, it ceases the sound. In the silence, the single thought—Om—is quenched; there is no thought. This is the state of trance, where the mind and the intellect are transcended as the individual self merges with the Infinite Self in the pious moment of realization. It is a moment when the petty worldly affairs are lost in the desire for the universal. Such is the immeasurable power of Om.

How to Type it on your Computer

Try this! To get the Om symbol on your computer screen, open MS Word and key in backslash ( \ ) in Wingdings font. You will type in Om!

Astrology

Differnce Between Vedic Astrology and Western Astrology :

There are many differences between Vedic astrology and Western astrology, but the main difference is that the Vedic astrologers use the Sidereal system or fixed zodiac while Western astrologer use the Tropical system or moving zodiac. Another important difference is that Western astrology mostly deals with one's psychological patterns and personality while Vedic astrology deals with more of practical matters and one's karmic patterns. The Nine Grahas (Planets) and Rashis (Zodiacs) of Vedic Astrology

Wearing Rudraksha Rosary (Mala)

Wearing Rudraksha Rosary

This rosary is worn after proper sanctification with Mantras preferably at a Shiva Temple. It is best to wear the rosary for the first time on a Monday immediately after the sanctification process. One other thing to be noted is that the same Mala is not used for wearing as well as Japa purpose. Also the rosary worn cannot be exchanged or swapped even between family members. However, a rudraksha mala can be willed and passed on to the next generation. Wearing the rudraksha beads rosary helps to raise Kundalini and open the Heart Chakra. This Beads have healing and curative properties and helps to lower blood pressure, stress, anger etc and creates stability within the entire system.

It is advisable to remove the mala when going to sleep and worn in the morning after bath and chanting Shiva panchakshri mantra (Om Namah Shivay) 108 times except when on travel. When not worn the mala should be stored in a clean and sacred space, preferably on a personal alter or near the statue of a deity. These beads not worn to toilets, during periods of menstrual bleeding or while attending funerals. Proper care should be taken while cleaning the beads. More on Rudraksha and the individual power of beads can be found on my Blog

Using Rudraksha Rosary for Mantra Chanting

Using Rudraksha Rosary for Mantra Chanting

Sit in a comfortable position with eyes closed and mind focused on the mantra. The rosary can rest on the right hand ring finger and middle finger can be used for Japa. One can also hang the string between the thumb and the ring finger and use middle to rotate the beads. Another method of using the rosary is hanging the rosary on the middle finger and the thumb is used for rotating the beads. The beads are rotated by one bead towards oneself, with each breath and repetition of the mantra. The index and small fingers are considered inauspicious for japa and the rosary should never touch the ground while japa. The Sumeru is never crossed while chanting and once Sumeru is reached the counting is done in the reverse direction. While chanting the hand can be placed on in front of the heart at the center of the chest or on the right knee. Mostly 108 + 1 bead rosary is used for this purpose but if one is using 27 +1 or 54 + 1 rosary make sure that your mantra chants should be 108 times or in multiples of 108. To energize the rosary one should do the mantra chanting with the rosary for 40 continuous days.

Rudraksha

Rudraksha Rosary (mala)

Rudraksha Beads Rosary is considered most auspicious and is considered the best options to be adopted for alternative medicine methodologies like meditation, tai chi, yoga, biofeedback etc. This rosary have been worn by Saints and Sages from ages for attaining spiritual attributes. The power of these beads has greatly influenced Buddhism and other religions as well. This beads are also worn by those desiring good health, peace, happiness, spiritual enlightment, prosperity, family harmony, attraction, fearless life and several other spiritual gains.

This holy beads rosary is also referred to as ‘Japa Mala' as it is used for japa(chanting). The rosary is normally made out of 5 mukhi beads in auspicious numbers like 108+1, 54+1 or 27+1. The +1 bead is called Sumeru and it is not crossed while chanting. Sumeru is considered as boundary for the one to reverse the direction for further counting while chanting.

According to Puranas that Rudraksha are to be worn in different numbers on the different parts of the body like head, neck, wrists, both fore arms, waist, abdomen etc to acquire Special Siddhis. The number of beads is very important when wearing on different parts of the body like 27 or 54 or 108 for neck, 32 for throat, six, eleven or fifteen for arms, 5 for the waist etc.

What is Meditation

Meditation: What it is !!!

Meditation Means AwarenessAn ordinary person may consider meditation as a worship or prayer. But it is not so. Meditation means awareness. Whatever you do with awareness is meditation. "Watching your breath" is meditation; listening to the birds is meditation. As long as these activities are free from any other distraction to the mind, it is effective meditation.

Meditation is not a technique but a way of life. Meditation means 'a cessation of the thought process' . It describes a state of consciousness, when the mind is free of scattered thoughts and various patterns . The observer (one who is doing meditation) realizes that all the activity of the mind is reduced to one.

A Tibetan Lama was being monitored on a brain scan machine by a scientist wishing to test physiological functions during deep meditation. The scientist said - "Very good Sir. The machine shows that you are able to go very deep in brain relaxation, and that validates your meditation". "No", said the Lama, "This (pointing to his brain) validates the machine!".

These days it is commonly understood to mean some form of spiritual practice where one sits down with eyes closed and empties the mind to attain inner peace, relaxation or even an experience of God. Some people use the term as "my gardening is my meditation" or for jogging or art or music, hence creating confusion or misunderstanding.

The word meditation, is derived from two Latin words : meditari(to think, to dwell upon, to exercise the mind) and mederi (to heal). Its Sanskrit derivation 'medha' means wisdom.

Many years ago meditation was considered something just not meant for modern people, but now it has become very popular with all types of people. Published scientific and medical evidence has proved its benefits, but it still needs to be much understood.

Traditionally, the classical yoga texts, describe that to attain true states of meditation one must go through several stages. After the necessary preparation of personal and social code, physical position, breath control, and relaxation come the more advanced stages of concentration, contemplation, and then ultimately absorption. But that does not mean that one must perfect any one stage before moving onto the next. The Integral yoga approach is simultaneous application of a little of all stages together.

Commonly today, people can mean any one of these stages when they refer to the term meditation. Some schools only teach concentration techniques, some relaxation, and others teach free form contemplative activities like just sitting and awaiting absorption. Some call it meditation without giving credence to yoga for fear of being branded 'eastern'. But yoga is not something eastern or western as it is universal in its approach and application.

With regular practice of a balanced series of techniques, the energy of the body and mind can be liberated and the quality of consciousness can be expanded. This is not a subjective claim but is now being investigated by the scientists and being shown by an empirical fact.

15 rules by swami Vivekananda

15 rules by swami Vivekananda

1. Love Is The Law Of Life: All love is expansion, all selfishness is contraction. Love is therefore the only law of life. He who loves lives, he who is selfish is dying. Therefore, love for love's sake, because it is law of life, just as you breathe to live.

2. It's Your Outlook That Matters: It is our own mental attitude, which makes the world what it is for us. Our thoughts make things beautiful, our thoughts make things ugly. The whole world is in our own minds. Learn to see things in the proper light.

3. Life is Beautiful: First, believe in this world - that there is meaning behind everything. Everything in the world is good, is holy and beautiful. If you see something evil, think that you do not understand it in the right light. Throw the burden on yourselves!

4. It's The Way You Feel: Feel like Christ and you will be a Christ; feel like Buddha and you will be a Buddha. It is feeling that is the life, the strength, and the vitality, without which no amount of intellectual activity can reach God.

5. Set Yourself Free: The moment I have realized God sitting in the temple of every human body, the moment I stand in reverence before every human being and see God in him - that moment I am free from bondage, everything that binds vanishes, and I am free.

6. Don't Play The Blame Game: Condemn none: if you can stretch out a helping hand, do so. If you cannot, fold your hands, bless your brothers, and let them go their own way.

7. Help Others: If money helps a man to do good to others, it is of some value; but if not, it is simply a mass of evil, and the sooner it is got rid of, the better.

8. Uphold Your Ideals: Our duty is to encourage every one in his struggle to live up to his own highest idea, and strive at the same time to make the ideal as near as possible to the Truth.

9. Listen To Your Soul: You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul.
10. Be Yourself: The greatest religion is to be true to your own nature. Have faith in yourselves!

11. Nothing Is Impossible: Never think there is anything impossible for the soul. It is the greatest heresy to think so. If there is sin, this is the only sin - to say that you are weak, or others are weak.

12. You Have The Power: All the powers in the universe are already ours. It is we who have put our hands before our eyes and cry that it is dark.

13. Learn Everyday: The goal of mankind is knowledge... now this knowledge is inherent in man. No knowledge comes from outside: it is all inside. What we say a man 'knows', should, in strict psychological language, be what he 'discovers' or 'unveils'; what man 'learns' is really what he discovers by taking the cover off his own soul, which is a mine of infinite knowledge.

14. Be Truthful: Everything can be sacrificed for truth, but truth cannot be sacrificed for anything.

15. Think Different: All differences in this world are of degree, and not of kind, because oneness is the secret of everything.
